Primordial Antimatter in the Contemporary Universe

چکیده
In some baryogenesis scenarios, the universe acquires a non-vanishing average baryonic charge, but the baryon to photon ratio is not spatially constant and can be even negative in some space regions. This allows for existence of lumps of antimatter in our neighborhood and the possibility that very compact antimatter objects make a part of cosmological dark matter. Here I discuss the peculiar signatures which may be observed in a near future. One can conclude from simple considerations that there is much more matter than antimatter around us [1]. However, the origin of matter–antimatter asymmetry in the universe is unknown: the Standard Model of particle physics is certainly unable to explain it and new physics is necessary [2]. Constraining antimatter domains in the early universe with big bang nucleosynthesis.
We consider the effect of a small-scale matter-antimatter domain structure on big bang nucleosynthesis and place upper limits on the amount of antimatter in the early universe. For small domains, which annihilate before nucleosynthesis, this limit comes from underproduction of 4He. For larger domains, the limit comes from 3He overproduction. Since most of the 3He from &pmacr; 4He annihilation a...
متن کاملAspects of matter-antimatter asymmetries in Astrophysics and relativistic heavy ion collisions
The idea of antimatter as a negative energy solution of relativistic free fermion equation as given by Dirac raises the issue of why the (observed) Universe is apparently constituted by matter whereas fundamental theories of elementary particle indicates the same laws for (creating) matter and antimatter [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]. In fact, observational Astrophysics and Cosmology indicate a large baryon-...
متن کاملRecent Progress in Baryogenesis
I give a synopsis, specifically aimed at nonexperts, of some of the recent developments in electroweak baryogenesis. The focus of the talk is on the present status of electroweak baryogenesis in supersymmetric models, since this is a plausible and realistic possibility that is currently being probed by experimental searches for the Higgs boson and the top squark. The question of whether it is v...
متن کاملAntimatter from Primordial Black Holes
Primordial black holes (PBHs) could have formed in the early universe from the collapse of overdense regions through significant density fluctuations. Their detection nowadays is a great challenge as it could allow both to check the Hawking evaporation mechanism and to probe the early universe on very small scales that remain totally out of the range investigated by CMB or LSS measurements. The...
متن کاملCosmological Probes for Supersymmetry
The multi-parameter character of supersymmetric dark-matter models implies the combination of their experimental studies with astrophysical and cosmological probes. The physics of the early Universe provides nontrivial effects of non-equilibrium particles and primordial cosmological structures. Primordial black holes (PBHs) are a profound signature of such structures that may arise as a cosmolo...
